War in Afghanistan

Background and Early Stage of Conflict

The war in Afghanistan began on October 7, 2001 when US Forces and their allies initiated Operation Enduring Freedom.  The operation started only four weeks after the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United flight 93 on September 11, 2001.  To understand what led to these events it is important to know a little bit about the history of Afghanistan, its geography and location right in the literal middle of the world's most ancient trade route.  It's also important to understand this conflict in terms of the tension between the developed and undeveloped world.  Click the below link to read an article about the differences between these two parts when it comes to access, acceptance and adoption of technology.
